We eliminated the raisins in both cakes, reduced the nutmeg, added a few shakes of ground cloves and added more walnuts in both. On the Paula Deen cake, we baked in a regular cake pan, and eliminated the brown butter frosting. We made a basic powdered sugar icing instead. These would be great topped with a cream cheese frosting.
